Creating a Capsule Wardrobe
Share
Nobody’s wardrobe will look the same as the next person’s, but there are some items that everyone should have in their wardrobe to create a “capsule wardrobe.”
What is a capsule wardrobe?
For those who are unfamiliar, a capsule wardrobe is just a wardrobe that contains several basic, neutral-colored pieces that can all be reused in different outfits. However, there is no set number of how small this capsule has to be. These pieces will include tops, bottoms, dresses, outerwear and some accessories.
A couple of things to remember when assembling this wardrobe is that you should choose clothing that is of high quality, timeless and versatile.
Below is a list of suggested items to have in your capsule wardrobe:
- Five to seven T-shirts, tank tops and bodysuits.
- Four tops and blouses.
- Three pairs of jeans.
- One to two dresses.
- Four to five pairs of shoes.
- Two to four jackets and blazers.
- Three sweaters.
- One to two skirts.
- Two to three belts.
- Three to four bags.
Remember, this list is not the set amount of items you need for your wardrobe, just suggested items and how many of them.
A capsule wardrobe should still be your own, personal wardrobe that suits your own style. So when picking basic items, make sure they’re comfortable and something that you would normally wear.
For those who are more into a pop of color, there’s no harm in adding a few pieces or accessories to add to a basic, neutral outfit.
